Hacked Android Server Installed Malware on User Devices – Gigaset Android Update!

Gigaset has discovered a malware infection in their Android devices was compromised by misusing the server that links with the external update service provider. This malware impacts the older models of smartphones that include – GS100, GS160, GS170, GS180, GS270, and GS370 plus series, the malware is executed in the form of multiple unwanted applications that were downloaded from the internet and run using the pre-installed update mechanism.

This entire process begins on March 27 and the German manufacturer of telecommunications devices took serious steps while updating the services and revoking the further infection of this malware.

However, the experts said that security measures were taken to get rid of these infected devices of malware. While preventing what happens to the devices that must be connected through the internet in the form of WLAN, WiFi, or mobile data. The experts also recommend the connecting devices apply the charges and the affected devices would be free from the malware automatically in 8 hours.

The expert also shared the list of applications that installed the malware into the devices that include;

  • Smart
  • Tayase
  • com.yhn4621.ujm0317
  • com.wagd.smarter
  • com.wagd.xiaoan

Moreover, the Gigaset is also verified what users are checking the signs of the infections by visiting into the settings applications that manually uninstalled the applications that are in question. While the improved software update is available for the devices.

The experts also discussed the devices which are affected by this malware attack or the devices which are not impacted by this attack are described below.

Meanwhile, the affected models are running on GS160, GS170 and GS180 are executing all the versions of the software. GS100 which includes GS100_HW1.0_XXX_V19, GS270 which deals with GIG_GS270_S138, and GS270 plus that deals with GIG_GS270_plus_S1369, GS370 that consist GIG_GS370_S128 and last GS370 plus that are up to GIG_GS370_plus_S128 are got affected.

Whereas, the models include GS110, GS185, GS190, GS195LS, GS280, GS290, GX290. GX290 PRO, GS3, and GS4 series devices are not affected by this impact
