Concrete Patching Will Fixed 25% of Zero-Days Seen in 2020 – Google

Today Google said that all the zero-day vulnerabilities founded are being exploited numerously in 2020 are fixed if the users are applied proper patch. As per the investigation, the Google Project Zero team said that they discovered 24 zero-day vulnerabilities by the attackers in 2020.

Whereas 6 vulnerabilities are from the previous year and the attacker used old bugs to penetrate with the user system and execute the new versions into their system.

Maddie Stone also said some of these zero-day vulnerabilities were used to update a line or the two of code while having a new working exploit.

These vulnerabilities include the zero-day exploit present in Google Chrome, Firefox, Internet Safari, and Windows as listed below.

In case the attacker is well known with these examined patches, then in the future, they can easily develop new exploits and re-used the same vulnerabilities, and initiate the attacks.

The researcher also added that this entire situation would be controllable if all the vendors do a proper investigation and get the root cause of these vulnerabilities and if they invested more in the patching process.

Summering Up

Google Project Zero researchers also advised other security experts to take advantage when the zero-day vulnerabilities are exploited and they have to analyze them in the proper manner.

However, the zero-day exploit will open a window into the hacker’s mind that the defender could take advantage and try to learn about the bugs that attackers use to exploit, know about the vulnerabilities classes, and used the proper solutions for them.

Many security experts believed that the reason behind why the Google Project Zero team is formed is to examine the zero-days exploit and update the patches accordingly
