Brown University Spoiled by Cyberattack and their Systems is Offline!

A private research university located in the United States had to cut the connections to their systems with data center after the cyberattack occurred on Tuesday.

However, the Ivy League School IT department said that they are experienced a cyber attack on their entities, and to revoke the effects of this attack they shut down their operating systems, tablets, and smartphones.

Whereas the Brown University IT staff take all the steps needed to safeguard their database, therefore they had to shut down their systems that were connected with the data center.

The Chief Information Officer of Brown University said that the most common access resources are unavailable due to this attack the Banner, VPN, remote applications, and other websites that are connected with the domain of Brown.edu are down. They also said that we are continuously working with our security team and we are taking every action needed to control this attack and getting back our systems asap.

The organization hasn’t shared any relevant details about this incident but their staff is working with the security team and IT Support Consultant or with the Departmental Computing Coordinator while examining the effects of this attack and clearing their Windows machine status.

However, this attack was infected the Brown University network, the staff is working to bring all essential services back online that was connected with the organization’s websites, library, and other services.

The Organization also released an official statement after this attack which states as;

“On Tuesday we identified an security incident that affected our systems that were connected with our University computer network. While investigating the incident we had to secured our all the digital assets that was connected with our computer network. We are investigating the incident at our priority and we are also focused while restoring the entire system that was affected by this attack and maintaining the security and safety as possible. Our investigation is still ongoing and we will regularly updating our systems according to the information that we gathered.”

The experts said that when this attack was identified the organization immediately started the investigation and they are working on the methods to examine which systems are affected most and restoring the systems asap.

Meanwhile, the organization had to shut down multiple systems that include Banner Self Services, Canvas, Workday, Google, and Zoom for security reasons. The team is working while restoring the system and gathering all the information needed to get back the system affected and switched back to the normal condition.
